EU approves 5th package of anti-Russia sanctions

BRUSSELS/TOKYO, Apr 8 (PRIME) -- The E.U. approved the fifth package of sanctions against Russia on Friday, according to a statement of the Council of Europe.

The sanctions are yet to be published in the E.U. official journal, after which they will enter in force.

The measures include a coal imports embargo starting from August, prohibition for Russian ships to enter the E.U. ports, restrictions on the Russian and Belarusian transport companies, full prohibition of transactions with four Russia's key banks.

JAPAN'S SANCTIONS

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that the country would blacklist Russia's Sberbank and Alfa-Bank and forbid new investment in Russia. Imports of a wide range of equipment, some types of timber and vodka will be prohibited.

The official also said that Japan would reduce dependence on Russian coal to introduce an embargo eventually.

The country will blacklist about 20 Russian organizations and about 400 people including deputies of the State Duma.
